I got passed that first little dream world 'test' thing-- so I'll see if this game heats up a bit now...

I'm cool with Oblivion but much @ home in Fallout 3. I haven't fired up my Oblivi game in a bit, but it's there for me.
I might reconsider my delay for getting on PC and scoop up sometime over the Holidays. Many new games prying for my attention! Assassins Creed 2 is tomorrow I think, to add temptation to L4D2 score.

I came close to interested in short bursts, but that's about it. I think it's too generic a fantasy 'story' for me. Add the menu driven battle system and you have a big flaw in fun, via my personal enjoyment tracker. I can take Menu battle systems, if the game itself is at least interesting, but so far on disc 1 of Lost Odyssey, I get so such feelings of wow, fun.
End rant. I watched a few people play KotOR but never did myself. Technically I own a copy, since I bought it off my cousin before he attempted to trade it in. A few months later, he borrowed it.
But yeah, glad this game seems to be doing people well. I have no clue what other game might come home with me today, we'll see what the trade ins fetch.

I also got Dragon Age Origins (Boom, MufukinOP) along with L4D2 today. Gamestop is apparently giving bonus loot on trade-ins, so I got DA for free, and $25 bucks on the new Zelda DS game hitting Dec 7th.
I will be L4D'ing with priority tonight. Kat is prolly going to jack DA while L4D2 keeps me busy.

KOTOR 2 on a close second, and mass effect third
You have not played very many RPGs then. It is very unlikey you would find any of those in a top 5 list for any major RPG gamer. If you thow in any consoles, they may not even make top 20.
IMO, DA has very little in common with KOTOR or Mass Effect.
DA:O is simply NeverWinter Nights 2 without the structure added by having the D&D license, but with some cheaply done gore.
Personally, I find NWN2 to be more appealing in the replay value. DA:O after the different Origin areas, is limited to either a Mage or Melee and evil or good. No prestige classes, no dual classing. Very limited.
The story is good, but not better than anything else. It is pretty standard Bioware fare IMO. Once you've played one Bioware MMO, you've played all of them.
Is it worth the money? Sure. You will have fun and enjoy.
It is definately not on any of my top lists. It is too limited and structured for my tastes. It is too easy to trump the plot. You can have full persuade skills before you leave the starter areas which makes all other area's plots very easy. As a Rogue, you can have nearly full pick lock as well, which means when you combine both, you can make things very simple, which you couldn't do under the structure of D&D rules.

Well I have played many RPG games, and those do make my Top 5.
Seriously, if one of KOTOR 1/2 or Mass Effect does not make your top 20, I'd very seriously like to see that list.
Anyway, my top 5 in no order:
Morrowind, KOTOR2, Mass Effect, World of Warcraft, Oblivion.
Even though I've played NWN1 and 2, I find them to be insanely bland. The story is always the same: TL;DR Ancient Evil Rises LOL. I find the D&D rules to be clunky but I did have fun abusing the imbalances of it (Some Cleric builds were just....lol).
I've played a bunch of older console RPG's but nothing after the PS2 came out (that was exclusive to consoles). I've missed a few gems, surely, but most of the AAA console RPG's also had a PC release.
And as for DA goes, I haven't beaten yet. I find the ridiculous difficulty enjoyable though (on nightmare).

Easily 10 of my top 20 would be taken just in console games. Zeldas, Final Fantasys, Chrono Trigger, Dragon Warriors, Super Mario RPG, etc. Then you have Baldurs Gate 1/2, NWN 1/2, The Witcher, The early Fallouts and 3, Diablo 1/2, Might and Magic series, Wizardy series, EarthBound, Deus Ex 1/2, Pokemons, Phantasy Star, Kingdom Hearts, Ultimas, A couple good PSP ones I don't recall ATM.
I haven't even mentioned Oblivion, KOTORs, or Mass Effects. Oh, haven't hit any MMOs either.
So, Yeah, You are RPG light if you have much more than one of the following in your top list: Oblivion, Morrowind, KOTOR1/2, Fallout 3, DA:O, or Mass Effect.
And WoW disqualifies any list, lol

Because I'd tell you right now, WoW's lore alone is enough to dwarf anything on your list. Zelda? Haha are you kidding me? Maybe if it has sentimental value to you, but come on! Gameplay wise, scope wise, technology wise, Roleplaying-options wise, to say it's raped by any recent BioWare game would be an understatement.
Final Fantasy? Yeah I played those too. Most of them are pretty good. A lot of them are pretty shit. Super Mario RPG? Read my thoughts on Zelda.
The rest of the stuff you mentioned though is fine (BG, Diablo, Fallout, M&M).
Pokemon: lol. Get real.
Haven't played Phantasy Star, KH, and I'm too young to have played the Ultima series. So I won't say anything about those.
I never claimed to be the "light" of RPG. I just pointed out your retarded elitism and now I'm pointing out your pathetic rationalization of it.
HAHA!
