If anyone has a system that cannot work with UMOD files, like linux users, then check the downloads section now. Under the umod downloads you'll see a .zip version of the full and update files.

1.3 Released. ---- Apr 07, 2003 -


The 1.3 version has been released. I also released an update to go from 1.2 to 1.3. It's a very small update because 1.3 fixed and added only a few things. I also started using UMOD technology and so it's now a lot easier to install. Just double click the file and it'll install all your files in the correct places.

1.3 now has the correct welcome message, it sounds much better than the current one. I also tweaked a few misc things, and fixed a few small replication issues. I also added an in-game clock on the hud. It'll show eclapsed time if there is no time limit, but if there is a time limit, then it counts down from that set limit. Enjoy.

Server Running KotH. ---- Mar 26, 2003 -


This server is not just a 100% KotH server, it runs many mods and gametypes. KotH is however in it's rotation. The map vote mutator allows you to vote for KotH. To connect to the server, add or connect to this IP: 62.93.201.51:8942

Our First Fan Site. ---- Mar 15, 2003 -


For any Germans out there, there is a new German KotH: HQ site. This site is located at: www.kothmod.de.vu.
The site will be getting some exclusive information and media from us, so be sure to check out their site!

On another note, I added another mirror for the 1.2 download. So if you still haven't gotten it yet, there is another option.

Also, somehow, by mistake, 1.2 got released with the old voicepack. Because this wasn't something to effect gameplay, I won't be re-releasing 1.2. The new voicepack that has the new welcome message will be in the 1.3 release. The current feature I've been working on for 1.3 is a trigger that will turn on when a team is on the koth point. This will let the mapper have any scripted event occur at the moment. Like an emitter, or a sound, or anything else that can be triggered by an event.

Separate Mapping Guide Page is Up. ---- Mar 12, 2003 -


The mapping guide has been updated to include images to show how to customize your own koth point radius. We will also be updating our maps to take advantage of it, and each map will have it's own custom radius that fits the map best.

Dedicated Server Instructions. ---- Mar 11, 2003 -

  • Install the free dedicated server tool.
  • Start command prompt.
  • Now enter the following:

    C:\ut2003\UT2003Server\System\ucc server
    KH-Chaos_Hill?Game=KotH.Hive_KH?Difficulty=0?bAutoNumBots=True?NumBots=1?
    GameSpeed=1.00?WeaponStay=True?Translocator=False?FriendlyFireScale=0.00?

  • Note that the above is typed in with no spaces or line breaks of any kind.
  • Change C:\ut2003\...... to the path that you installed the server to.
  • The words after \ucc server is the starting map.
  • The rest should be just default properties until you reach DoubleJump.
  • Setting DoubleJump to true lets you triple jump. False lets you double jump.
  • PointTime is how long you must gaurd the koth point before your team gets a point.

Just to show you that we have still been working, here are 4 screenshots from our 2 new maps coming out with your 1.2 release of King of the Hill. The 1.2 release should be coming out fairly soon. Mars made both of these maps. He is really getting very good at mapping! Props to em.

We're Still Alive. ---- Feb 23, 2003 -


The team is still alive, and we are still planning on releasing KotH 1.2. We have all the coding done for the 1.2 release, and we have a new welcome message from Ted. We were going to be also getting a new map from Ted, but he's been too busy. So we've just been taking a break and waiting. Since it's still not done, I think we'll be releasing 1.2 after I check everything is working well with the newest patch.

Progress Report ---- Jan 30, 2003 -


Well, it's been 8 days. We haven't gotten a whole lot more in code updates, but we did get 2 more maps for the mod. We are also going to be replacing the current welcome to koth message with one that Ted has made. I am still waiting on the voice, but he will get it to me soon.

Also, our modeler that was going to be re-modeling the hammer ran into a problem. He is being enrolled into the army and is un-able to be active in the team anymore, so that idea is no longer in action at the moment. And finally, I would like to just let you all know that we WILL have an update version available, so you won't need to all download a huge file again. Both will be in .zip format, since the installation program we had turned up some bad installations with different systems.

Running A Dedicated Server. ---- Jan 20, 2003 -


I am aware that there is a major issue with running a dedicated server with the King of the Hill mod. Basically, what will happen is that the score won't increment. So for 1.2, if you're running a dedicated server it'll automatically be set to 2 seconds per a point. This way you guys don't need to go through any hassle getting a dedicated server up.

Also, the new Hammer Hill model might need to wait till 1.3, because 1.2 has some new stuff that I'd really like to get out to you guys. And also, the dedicated server fix. So 1.2 MAY be coming within the next week or 2.

Yes, 1.1 just came out, but I really got excited over the amount of online 1.1 players I've seen. So it gave me the dedication to start work on 1.2. And this time there WILL be an upgrade patch available for download. As well as full version. Here is the current change list:

Some Great Games. ---- Jan 17, 2003 -


I played in about 4 KotH servers online yesterday with about 15-16 people. Fun times. If you'd like to see a screenshot of a 6 person game (1 bot) then click here.

Also, the KotH mod is now on the CSport.net game stats site. You can check out that site here. And it also gives the top KotH players. I'd like to give a shout-out and props to =KeX=Ramrot for being the #1 KotH player at this current time.

The .EXE Installation. ---- Jan 17, 2003 -


I have recieved a couple of emails saying that the .exe file won't install the koth mod to the right places if the game is not installed to C:\UT2003 folder. So I have now uploaded a .zip version. Please us it if you have ut2003 installed in a different location. An asterisk (*) indicates a .zip format.

I told ya it would be coming soon. Well now it's here. :) There will be more mirrors coming soon. At the moment the only mirror is offered by filefront. Soon there will be one for fileplanet and hopefull aodmeagain.com. Check the download page to grab it. This time it is packed into an auto installer. Just give it the root ut2003 path and it does the rest.

New Skin In-Game! ---- Jan 14, 2003 -

The skin is toned blue with changed details. We know it's not a total re-skin, but it is a nice change. I already have gotten it in-game. It it viewed fine from 3rd and 1st perspective. I also got the 1st person emmiter effect I changed to also show in 3rd person view.

Now here is yet another idea oxygen has given me that is also now in-game. The Hill Hammer now acts kinda like the push force in Jedi Knight II. It does no damage but gives a great pushing effect. Great to push big crowds off koth points.

It still has shield, and with the boost you can now give yourself without getting hurt at all, we might be able to make some kooler secrets in maps now. In 1.2 be prepared for a completely new weapon model!

Also, oxygen has now officially joined the KotH team as a mapper / skinner / modeler. :) Jack of all trades. :) And on another note, I'll be updating the progress report tomorrow with full list all all features with the new ones, and also I'll be removing all old screenshots and replacing with new ones.
